I wrote previously about the Red Bull #corner2corner tour that was happening with Ready D and now it's the wrap-up. I spent a good few weeks working with the team and capturing the tour which went from Retreat and Parkwood to Ocean View and Hout Bay to Mitchell's Plain and Lentegeur to Kuilsrivier and Eersterivier. The concept is really about bringing the community outside with music, dance, and entertainment.
It's difficult to talk about the execution of this project without understanding that the places we went to represent the origin story for many of the artists and athletes. Lentegeur is where Ready D grew up, and is quite literally the birthplace of the Concrete Apostles. The very space where we parked the event vehicle was the space was where he learnt to DJ and dance.
It's a quick strike: the truck unfurls, dancers contort, emcees wax lyrical, and everyone has a good time. It's basically a very quick, small party. It's informal. It's fun. It's built on the premise that you can bring the community a little closer together with the help of good music and dance. In this case, it was DJ Ready D, the Concrete Apostles, and Miss Patty Monroe.
